Over the past few weeks I have been making it a priority to get really organised with my business. This is especially important if you are thinking of expanding in any way. If you are planning to take on an employee, an intern or to outsource then you need a way to impart information in a sharable, structured way.
To do this I highly recommend the Google platform. Google is so much more than just a search engine and two of its most powerful tools are Google Docs and Google Calendar. If you haven’t already, sign up for a Google account now. Calendars can be shared with multiple colleagues and synced across all of your devices. When you update it on your iPhone it gets automatically updated on your desktop and iPad for example.
I use my calendar to schedule in all of my personal and business activities. Try putting into the calendar “me time” and see if this forces you to actually do it! If it is there in black and white (with a little pop up reminder) then it is harder to skip over.
I found it really hard making time to go horse riding, visit the spa or do anything for myself after having a baby so this has been a big deal for me to bring into my life in the past couple of months!
BUT.. . The truth is that I resisted organising my calendar in this way so much!
It was only when my business coach guided me into it buy suggesting it a few times that I finally bit the bullet and did it. I had to work through a few things and ask myself why it was that I was resisting this level of organisation.
It was due to a feeling of fear that it was way to regimented for me. That it would take away my freedom of time. That I would feel shackled by my strict calendar!
In fact the opposite was true.
As soon as I scheduled in all my work, my walks on the beach, my horse rides, my long baths (yes!! it is true!)… I suddenly found that I had MORE time on my hands. I was now doing more of the very things I desired to do…
